Come on FM-100 to Talk About Hygiene and WES in the Earthquake Areas! Under an agreement with UNICEF, FM-100 is producing a daily program on hygiene, water and sanitation issues. Their transmission can be heard in all earthquake affected districts except Muzaffarabad, where they will be collaborating with FM-104, the student-run station set up by the University of Punjab, UNICEF and WHO. The programs are to be syndicated and made available to other radio stations as well.
FM-100 is looking for contact people to participate in the radio programs on a rotational basis over the next three months to talk about the water and sanitation situation in the field, operation updates, challenges being faced, success stories, etc. They would be required to go to the FM-100 studio in Blue Area, Islamabad for the live program, which is from 3-4 pm.
Also, contact people are needed in the field who can be called during the program for live updates from the field (again, on a rotational basis).
Ideally, these people would be involved in WES programs or Communications people familiar with the WES situation and your organization’s operations and be comfortable speaking in both qualitative and some quantitative terms. They would also need to be able to speak Urdu and be comfortable responding to listeners calling in with questions and suggestions.
Additionally, non-Urdu speakers can record a message that would be broadcast and summarised by the host of the programme.
FM-100 would be able to explain in more detail and would coordinate directly with anyone interested in participating in any of these capacities.
This is a good opportunity both to tell about your organization’s work and increase “visibility” and also to highlight some of the WES challenges and concerns from on the ground.
