100 Days of Programme Communication in the Earthquake Response
Many of the activities started in the first 30 days continued, while many new initiatives were introduced under a partnership between UNICEF and the Ministry of Environment, which is responsible for Hygiene and WES communication activities. New activities included a website on the Earthquake Relief and Rehabilitation Communication Plan 2005-06, new partnerships with the media, including partnerships with two more FM channels and the development of a core group of journalists, which also accompanied the Minister for Environment on a field visit to Muzaffarabad. WES activities were highlighted in the media, Cleanliness Drives were held in camps and new awareness materials and visibility items were developed. The 100 Days ended with a program to mobilize 50,000 tent-to-tent communicators set to launch.

30 Days of Programme Communication in the Earthquake Response
The first 30 days following the earthquake saw a rapid inter-sectoral communication response that rapidly assessed the available communication opportunities, promptly developed Key Messages to be conveyed to the earthquake survivors to minimise further injury, illness and death and developed timely interventions for motivating life-saving behaviour change. Some of the early interventions included producing and distributing/displaying over one million copies of 24 communication items on health, hygiene, water and sanitation issues and a special Meena Protection Packages, setting up a student-run radio station in Muzaffarabad and deploying Boy Scouts Patrols and Heath Education Teams for awareness raising.
